These homeowners plan to remain in their home for some time but needed additional square footage. The wife was a “work from home” professional and needed her own office area that would also function as a mini formal living room. This homeowner found them into today’s typical dilemma where appraisal values have dropped substantially so selling their home was not an option. The meet their need they decided to invest in their home by adding square footage. Essentially, we bumped out the front of the home towards the street to add the 250sf. A full slab foundation was engineered, inspected and used. Structural framing then retooled the entire front slope of their roofline on the addition side. To provide privacy for an office though maintain the ascetics of a formal living room for future homeowners, we partitioned off the room using dual double set divided light pocket doors. A dramatic effect for a small area. We further coiffured the ceiling for interest, trimmed all casings, added crown and large baseboards to finish off the room. For the flooring we installed prefinished glue down 5” plank engineered wood floor. This brought out the dramatic effect upon entering the home. Post construction via the photographs, you would never know the 250sf were added. Which is what remodeling is all about.
